MERGE by Isobel Kingswell
Isobel Kingswell is an emerging artist living and working in Meanjin (Brisbane). Influenced by her University studies in Architecture, her painting practice considers connections between people and the places they occupy or share.
She developed her painting skill in commencing a residency at Estudio Nomada, Barcelona, continuing in the completion of her Masters of Visual Art at Griffith University in 2022.
Her current work is a way of safe keeping memories of place, embracing scenes where human, building and nature intersect joyfully. She recreates these images in minimally abstracted, patterned and colourful compositions to unite those distinct categories.
Merge is a show of small works and open studio space showing Isobel’s current studies of place and memory, and how we belong in both.
