Sam Eyles - Open Studio
Eyles activates Vacant Assembly's Project Space as an extension of his onsite 1st floor studio. Past, present and emerging works will be on display throughout the month of September. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore samples of an oeuvre spanning 20 years as a practicing artist. Showcased are examples of a creative pursuit processing what it means to be from this world, in this world, of this world and beyond this world. Pulsating with time, the veiled surfaces emerge, disappear, sink away, and manifest via a process of denial and discovery. Eyles’ trademark expressive mark making and organic contour lines draw upon motifs that encapsulate the universal themes of suffering, perseverance, character, faith, hope and love. The works invite viewers to journey through their own state of being; from the infinite depths of a blackhole, through liminal space, across a lingering state of becomingness, slowly emerging through a wormhole to a state of everywhen, where the past, present and future are interconnected.
