Direct From Japan with OKAERI
OKAERI joins the Vacant Assembly Project Space bringing a collection of pieces by independent Japanese artists and traditional craftsmen (dentōkugei-shi). Visitors will have the chance to connect with the pieces first hand and hear the stories of their creators. Joined by a number of Australian-based Japanese makers during the month of May, the space will showcase a range of pieces direct from Japan and locally made.
In their enduring pursuit of excellence, Japanese artisans dedicate their lives to the stewardship of culture through their craft. Discover the exceptional artistry and rich traditions being kept alive by Japanese artisans as you explore the collection of Japanese ceramic pieces, washi paper lamps, incense, teas, matcha, and artisan crafted homewares.
Designed to be enjoyed for a lifetime, each piece in the collection is functional. Cultural and essential items intended for you to cherish and enjoy every day.
